Carrot flakes are a high quality drum dried product made of carrot puree concentrate and carrier, namely maize starch and rice flour. They are around 8-10mm long, orange in colour and have a typical sweet flavour. Variation in appearance, vegetable content and taste may occur, due to the natural origin of the ingredients.
Carrot flakes can be used in a variety of food preparations, such as stews and soups. The flakes can be rehydrated by stirring with liquid, to produce a pulpy to liquid product, depending on the amount of added liquid.
Storage and Shelf Life
When stored in cool, dry conditions, carrot flakes have a shelf life of 6 months.
